Salaam Islamic Center is partnering with Embrace Relief for 2020 Hunger Relief

Due to Covid-19, millions of people have been laid off from work which will eventually lead to an increase in worldwide hunger. You can help these people have a meal by donating your Qurban.

Allah said in the Quran:

“So pray to your Lord, and sacrifice (for Him in thankfulness).” (Al-Kawthar,108:2)

“(Bear in mind that) neither their flesh nor their blood reaches God, but only piety and consciousness of God reach Him from you.” (Al-Hajj, 22:37)‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever can afford to offer a sacrifice (qurban) but does not do so, let him not approach our place of prayer.” (Sunan ibn Majah, 3123; Ahmad b. Hanbal, 8256)

It was narrated from Abdullah ibn Abbas the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “A person is not a believer who fills his stomach while his neighbor goes hungry.” (al-Albaani, Sahih, I, 69-71)

Do you know? 11.3% of the world’s population is still hungry today. According to the World Food Programme, 66 million primary school-age children attend classes hungry across the developing world. According to the World Health Organization, there are 153 million children suffering from growth deficiency in developing countries. And believe it or not, 1 in 6 people in the United States face hunger with 49 million americans struggling to put food on the table. The primary cause of hunger, poverty, stems from people’s lack of resources’ an extremely unequal income distribution in the world and within specific countries, conflict and hunger itself.

ALSO DUE TO COVID-19, MILLIONS OF PEOPLE HAVE BEEN LAID OFF FROM WORK WHICH WILL EVENTUALLY LEAD TO AN INCREASE IN WORLDWIDE HUNGER. YOU CAN HELP THESE PEOPLE HAVE A MEAl BY donating TO OUR QURBAN (UDHIYAH) CAMPAIGN.

We kindly request your donation to the qurban (udhiyah) meat distribution campaign, which we will organize with the Salaam Islamic Center & Embrace Relief partnership.

Embrace Relief’s 2019 Qurban campaign was yet another success. Thousands of people across the globe were distributed packages of meat – an essential source of protein which some of these people sadly cannot afford to buy throughout the year.

According to the World Health Organization, there are 153 million children suffering from growth deficiency in developing countries. Meat and animal products are necessary for children in order to grow properly because of the protein, minerals, and vitamins they contain. As part of our Hunger Relief program, Embrace Relief administers qurban organizations in up to 40 countries every year and help you easily reach out to people in need across the globe. Every donation you make translates into meat for about ten families and bring joy to tables.

This year, Embrace Relief distributed qurban meat to more than 24,000 families in four continents, thanks to your generosity! From the Philippines to Yemen where famine is rampant, to refugee families in Greece and low-income neighborhoods in the United States, ER volunteers worked for days to prepare and take meat packages to the houses of people in need.

We thank all our dedicated donors and volunteers for yet another successful campaign year!
